Collection Lending Guide

We guide you on methods for lending museum collections or equivalent materials.

Eligible Institutions

Institutions equipped with exhibition halls and storage facilities suitable for the preservation and management of held collections

Lending Costs

  • Lending is free of charge.
  • All costs including packaging, transportation, and insurance are to be borne by the requesting institution

    After securing insurance, handover/acceptance is conducted
  1. Pre-consultation with the Lending Coordinator (via phone and email)
    • Consultation Period : Pre-consultation is recommended three months before the exhibition start date
    • Required Documents
      • ① Exhibition Plan: Including exhibition title, duration, venue, layout plan, and utilization plan for the requested artifacts
      • ② List of Requested Held Artifacts: Including names, inventory numbers, dimensions, and photos of the artifacts
  2. Sending a Lending Request Letter (Requesting Institution → National Saemangeum Reclamation Museum)
    • The requesting institution sends a lending request letter to our institution after consulting with the lending coordinator, attaching the necessary documents (① Exhibition Plan, ② List of Requested Held Collections)
  3. Approval for Artifact Lending (National Saemangeum Reclamation Museum → Requesting Institution)
    • Notification of insurance value of the lent materials and lending approval conditions
  4. Insurance and Handover/Acceptance
    • The requesting institution proceeds with insurance and handover/acceptance after the lending approval
    • At handover/acceptance, mutual exchange of receipts is followed by the formal sending of the receipt by the requesting institution through official correspondence
    • If the requesting institution lends nationally designated or registered cultural properties, it must report the move of the storage location within 15 days from the date of transport (Based on "Cultural Heritage Protection Law" Articles 40 and 55).
    • ※ Unauthorized use, reproduction, or arbitrary change of storage location of the lent materials is prohibited, and "Lending Approval Conditions" must be adhered to.
