Replication Guide

We guide you on methods to replicate museum exhibits or equivalent materials as needed.

Target

Materials published through exhibitions and publications held by the museum.

Method

  • Direct photography, copying, imitation, and restoration of museum materials
  • Request for digital data related to museum materials

Limitations on Copying

  • If there are concerns that replication might jeopardize the safety management of the materials
  • If there have been previous instances or cases of rule violations
  • If other laws restrict the production or use of replicas
  • If there is a likelihood that the replicas could be used for illegal activities
  • Replication quantity limit: 5 items per day, 3 times a year / Photography limited to 30 images per session

Eligibility

  • Affiliated with public institutions, educational institutions, academic institutions, or research groups, and the purpose is cultural or academic research.
  • Researchers at the master's level or higher who are writing a thesis and have been recommended by their department head.
  • Researchers with at least a master's degree and the purpose is academic research.

How to Apply

  1. Fill out and send the "Material Viewing/Replication Permission Application Form" (via electronic document, email, or mail).
  2. Visit at the designated time after approval by the responsible person.

Compliance

  • Entry to the viewing area is restricted to authorized personnel only.
  • Viewing or photographing is not allowed outside designated areas.
  • Entry to the viewing area is restricted to authorized personnel only
  • When photographing, there must be no damage to the held materials, and lighting is not allowed.
  • Replicated materials must not be used for purposes other than intended, and when used as secondary data for displays or postings, it must be clearly stated that the material belongs to our museum.
  • Compliance with anti-replication measures must be maintained when posting museum materials online. Legal sanctions may be applied if the purpose of replication is against public interest.
  • Any damage to the held materials or other facilities during replication must be compensated according to the director's regulations.
  • Failure to submit the replicated materials may result in denial of future requests.
